Transit Of Venus
The Transit of Venus was one of the most popular events as it was the rarest of the rare and timings were appropriate for India to watch. It was last chance for a viewer to see the event because next event will not be repeated for 100 years. It was also useful from the astronomical point of view as well as from an educational and research point of view.
Gurudev Observatory took the initiative
Under the precious guidance of Gurudev Observatory a team made up of the Community Science Centre, local SVP planetarium, Municipal Corporation, Sanskriti Astronomy and Nature academy and several other institutes took an active part. Our TOV-2012 team, Vadodara, India achieved great success. We enjoyed the event with State & National level electronic and print media representatives, women, children ,senior citizens, NGOs, members of All World Gayatri Pariwar, the Mayor and Commissioner of Vadodara, government officers, astronomers and scientists from all over the region.
One of the biggest events
Our team, consisting of Gurudev Observatory, BRG Group of schools, Sanskriti Astronomy and Nature Academey, Community Science Center and SVP Planetarium, succeeded in attracting more than 10,000 viewers, making it one of the biggest and crowded events in India and the rest of the world.
The biggest show
We put more than 7 big Solar telescopes, 3 live presentation systems including a live video feed from a telescope, the Internet and Slooh observatory with help of LCD and giant screens, a 5000 watt sound system, mega exhibition, live multimedia presentation, poster exhibition, Solar Glasses, help of cable operators for district wide live coverage and OB van for global live coverage .We had spread awareness of the event with the help of the media, banners, a big hoarding near railway and bus station, cable adverts, SMS, emails and multimedia.
